| Grooming the dog |

Dog grooming is an important part of the dog's health, with regular bathing, brushing and combing helping to remove dead hair and dirt and prevent matting. Dogs who are regularly groomed tend to have a healthier and shinier coat because it stimulates the blood supply to the skin. For the dog it is good to get used to it in early age because after that it will become nervous for both sides – the groomer and the dog. Тhe grooming starts with brushing the hair (for longhaired breeds) until all of the dead hair is removed. After it is brushed it should be bathed, usually with shampoo and conditioner. I use the products of All systems, Chris Christensens and other professional cometics, but there are a lot of brands, from which the owner can choose. The main thing about bathing is giving attention to every little detail because it will be easier to dry it and trim it. After the dog is well bathed it should be dried. The pet dryer is an important part of the grooming equipment. A "human" dryer is not that strong as the pet dryer and it can burn the dogs coat if dryed with hot stream, so the groomer should use a pet dryer. I’m using the pet dryer of the company Aibel. The meaning of so strong pet dryer is to pull out the water from the coat, not to dry it. The stream should be not hot, because it can burn the coat, but either not so cold, so it can catch a cold. The pet dryer helps the groomer to prepare the dog for a show. The coat of the different breeds should look in a specific way, so the groomer should know the requirements for every breed. With the dryer the groomer can make the coat straight if there is any curliness that should be straighten. Also with the dryer the coat can look fluffy and smooth, depending on the standard of the breed. Trimming the dog means cutting the coat that is unnecessary and should be removed. That usually contains all the hair under the paws (for every breed) and trimming the body. The body trimming is special for every breed – some of them don’t require trimming but some of them could be trimmed 4-5 hours. During the trimming the groomer should stick to the requirements for the breed by the standard - to know how the dog should look like. The final result of the grooming is the most important. The bathing, brushing, drying and trimming can take more than 6 hours but if the result is a well groomed dog that can compete with the best dogs – than the work is justifiable.
